Beast was an American Real Life Superhero in Mansfield Township, New Jersey. Beast is most well-known for his arrest a few weeks after the 2012 mass shooting at a Dark Knight Rises screening in Aurora, Colorado due to the public alarm caused by the event and the fear he was a copycat. [1] Prior to his arrest, Beast patrolled for 3 months while wearing a outfit that consisted of a black mask, body armor, elbow pads, a spandex shirt with shoulder armor, black tactical pants and combat boots. Since his arrest and charging, he has shown no known activity and is presumed inactive.

    History

Inspired by Phoenix Jones of Seattle, Washington and other members of the RLSH movement, Beast was motivated by his ambition to make the world a better place to become a RLSH. Prior to becoming active as a RLSH, Beast was in the United States Army where he first began working on his outfit. He was honorably discharged in the spring of 2012 and debuted his outfit shortly after returning to Mansfield in May. [2]

    Arrest

Beast was arrested for disorderly conduct and unlawful possession of handcuffs on August 1, 2012 in the parking lot of a Home Depot after local police received several 911 calls when Beast's appearance alarmed several customers. Eyewitness reports state Beast was patrolling the area, but due to the dark designs of his outfit as well as the recent memory of the July 20 shooting in Aurora, Colorado at a screening of The Dark Knight Rises, Beast's attempted altruism was interpreted as intimidating.[3]

In his court appearance on September 18, 2012, Beast pleaded guilty to the charge of disorderly conduct and was fined while the charge for unlawful possession of handcuffs was dropped. Beast stated to the judge presiding his case that his "intention was not to scare people." Despite the arrest, Beast has stated he is not discouraged from being a RLSH and plans to design a new outfit that is less intimidating as his old one was destroyed over the course of the arrest. He has not returned to active patrolling yet due to the current scrutiny his arrest has caused and police have expressed the desire that he not continue. [4]
