The California Initiative: San Francisco (CAI:SF) is a group of Real Life Superheroes based in San Francisco, California. They are part of a coalition of similarly-named teams called The Initiative Collective.

    History

In August of 2011, NightBug and Rock N Roll were in the process of forming their own team when they were contacted by Jack Zero of the New York Initiative, who asked if they would be willing to form the basis of a California-based branch of the Initiative. The two agreed, founding the California Initiative on August 18, 2011[1], making it the third branch of the Initiative to be founded, and the first in California.

The CAI later spawned sister branches in Los Angeles in 2012 (after which the CAI officially changed its name to California Initiative: San Francisco), and both Oakland and Southern California in 2017, respectively.

After the formation of the Oakland branch, Aaron Almanza (aka Shadarko) took over leadership of the SF branch, while NightBug and Rock N Roll assumed responsibility for the Oakland branch. Both still work closely together.
