The Alternates was a group of Real Life Superheroes in Portland, Oregon. It is now defunct.

    From their Wordpress page:

"The Alternates is the Northwest divison of Superheroes Anonymous. Superheroes Anonymous is a nationwide organization of Civil Minded Individuals using their creativity to make our communities a better place."

    History

Paraphrased from the Alternates WordPress History page:

The original message board was founded in November 2006 by Zetaman, evolving over time into an actual group, while the message board became one of its primary methods of communication. In August of 2007, both the message board shut down while the actual team disbanded and became localized in Portland, Oregon. In November 2007, the Alternates Message Board was recreated to facilitate communication both for RLSH and other community activists.

In February of 2008, the Alternates started a BlogTalk Radio Show, led by then-husband-and-wife team Zetaman and Apocalypse Meow, to help develop a subculture as well as entertain. The Alternates continued throughout 2008 and 2009, but disbanded again in August of 2009 due to internal conflicts.

In January 2010 the Alternates reformed under the banner of Superheroes Anonymous, a nationwide organization of Real Life Superheroes. For various reasons, Zetaman removed himself from RLSH activities and the group on May 17, 2011.
