The Fox was the pseudonym assumed by environmental activist, James Phillips (1930-2001). The Fox was known for his 30 year long clandestine campaign against corporations for their pollution of the environment, with a focus around the Fox River area.
History
Debuting in 1969, he was known by the pseudonym of "The Fox" due to his calling card left at the scenes where he struck, with the hole in the O taking on the shape of a fox's head. He was also known for publishing the book titled "Raising Kane: The Fox Chronicles" under the alias, Ray Fox[1], and in his civilian guise was a well-respected middle school teacher and field inspector for the Kane County Environmental Department.
