The Fox was the pseudonym assumed by environmental activist, James Phillips (1930-2001). The Fox was known for his 30 year long clandestine campaign against corporations for their pollution of the environment, with a focus around the Fox River area.[1] He was known by the pseudonym of "The Fox" due to his calling card left at the scenes where he struck, with the hole in the O taking on the shape of a fox's head.[2] He was also known for publishing the book titled "Raising Kane: The Fox Chronicles" under the alias, Ray Fox, and in his civilian guise was a well-respected middle school teacher and field inspector for the Kane County Environmental Department.
