The Urban Knights and Ladies is a volunteer community patrol organization based in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.
History
Urban Knights and Ladies were established in 1976, and the very first to form a totally ambassador volunteer street citizens patrol in Canada.[1]
They work closely with Law Enforcement, seniors, students, and Winnipeg 311. They patrol parks on bikes, pick up litter, rescue pets, assist tourists, fix flat tires, report hazards, escort seniors and students, give talks in schools, remove graffiti, and are trying to form a national support network.
In 2013, they received the Lieutenant Governor's Award. They also received the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012). In 2001 the City of Winnipeg gave them a recognition achievement award. [2]
