Urban Knights and Ladies is a Real Life Superhero.

    History

Greetings from the Urban Knights of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. We have been established since 1980 – we were the very first to form a totally ambassador volunteer street citizens patrol in Canada. We are still going strong but our role has changed over the years.

We work closely with By Law Enforcement, seniors, students and Winnipeg 311. We patrol parks on bikes, pick up litter, rescue pets, assist tourists, fix flat tires, report hazards, escort seniors and students, give talks in schools, remove graffiti, plus so much more and we are trying to form a national support network to share experiences and stories.

Our founder is going to Ottawa on April 7th 2014 to receive the Caring Canadian Award. Last year we received the Lieutenant Governor's Award for making a difference in our community and the year before that we received the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal (2012). In 2001 the City of Winnipeg gave us a recognition achievement award. Keep up the great work and continued success in your city!

Our founder is ex- Canadian and USA military. He has had several "Special Constable" appointments and made several citizen's arrests. He has a black belt in TaeKwon-do and a brown/purple belt in Judo/grappling. He has worked for the Manitoba Government as a Security Guard as well as being a Jail Guard. He has 'advanced' first aid and has worked summers in various hospitals. Thank you.

    All the best!
