Quotes
"Several people have expressed curiosity about the story behind my look. So I've decided to share it.
When I first came to Chicago to do work as a Real Life Superhero a little over a year ago, I didn't have much of a getup. Most of my attire was actually borrowed from Patch Work. I also went by a different name. I was just getting started and was not yet sure what I wanted to do in the long run. However, Geist gave me some simple yet sound advice that day: create something that will be remembered.
After that I spent months trying to come up with the perfect concept. I wanted to do something that would stand out, that no one had ever done before. Yet I also needed it to be practical and possible to craft on a budget. One day, I stumbled across the image below. Immediately, I knew I'd found my inspiration.
The look I had at HOPE in Chicago this year is not going to be the final design of my outfit. I would like to get the mask to look more like what you see in this picture, yet very easy to take on and off. Eventually, I also will have an armored version for crime prevention purposes. These designs are still a work in progress, however.
The name "Thread" also has personal significance behind it. I decided to use it after throwing around some ideas with Patch Work. I see most things in this world as a collection of intersecting systems: not merely a chain of cause and effect, but a web. It looks like the method detectives in stories use to help them solve mysteries: countless colored pins, each labeled with various names and events, all connected with lines of thread to show how everything ties together.
The web of the world, of course, is so vast and complex that I doubt it could ever be illustrated this way—except perhaps with the advent of quantum computing. But the important point, from my perspective, is this: all pins have significance, and some have more threads attached to them than others. I think this an interesting matter of reflection for any man or woman of virtue who desires to change our world."
